If folks have not seen via her blog, there's more news: Besides the history that will appear soon-ish on Closed-Circle.net; and Alliance Rising, which will be published conventionally; there will be a second volume after Alliance Rising, because she said she and Jane discovered there was more story left than would fit in one book. Heh. Which is wonderful news, of course. No word on whether there will be a third volume, so just two as far as we know. She has also said there that there will be more Foreigner booksp she wanted to do the Alliance-Union book as well. Most welcome news. I know many of us miss the A-U universe, as much as we may enjoy the Foreigner series.

I wonder if this was for a break, a refresher, as well as to answer fan hunger for more A-U, or perhaps so she (and the publishers) could gauge how hungry the overall SF&F fan market might be for more A-U books.

Me, I figure more Cherryh writing of any kind is a good thing. She's one of a few authors I know I can buy any book from and know I'll get a good story, well worth the price and then some. (Plus lots of rereads.)

I also figure that in a market saturated with urban fantasy and superhero stories, which can be fun reads too; still, perhaps there's more chance for readers who would like a story in the style of the Alliance-Union universe, a good mix of hard SF with science and military aspects, along with the character and culture and socioeconomic aspects or soft SF, which she is so good at.

Mot only is her writing style unique, but her way of mixing character and soft and hard SF, is unlike other writers, and there are some who also do it well, but I like her appraoch best.

(I am SF&F fan enough and book lover enough to figure there is plenty of room out there for every taste in stories and styles, and the more the merrier. A good tale is a good tale, however it's done. I think most fans here feel that way too. CJC herself has surely shown that she likes many different kinds of stories, fantasy and science fiction and so on. ... I still think she'd write brilliant historical novels, whatever period she chose; but she prefers future SF or fantasy.)

Since I don't frequent Closed Circle, I'll appreciate seeing any updates on when/where I can read these -- thanks!

Cool. I'd love to see those unresolved loose ends in Tripoint tied off. Capella's "That's how we found them" and "More of those where we're going" - plus some elaboration on the factions in the Fleet.
