Could someone remind me of Ilisidi's feudal colors, please?

For the life of me I can't find the reference, but I swear that in either Foreigner or Invader, they're described as Red and Green, but in later mentions of her colors, they're Red and Gold.

I clearly remember them as red and green in the early books, at least.

I also seem to recall a darker green than Atageini's light shade, but not what it's matched with.

I vaguely recall that, too. May have been why the atevi character (Tegacheiti) I developed for the short-lived roleplaying forum Spence hosted waaaay back when had those colors? I'd wanted him aligned with either her or Dur. Of course, given how mutable heraldries have become... as with the questions about Damiri's colors. I still remember her as having the prototypical "preppy" colors of pink & green in her very first appearance. Those must be the Ajuri colors, because she's absolutely never donned them since. I also caught a reference after that (but still very early, pre-coup) to Damiri wearing green & gold, a combo guaranteed to catch any Packer-backer's attention :atwink.

If 'Sidi-ma was wearing red & green instead of her customary Ragi red & black, it may have been for the benefit of her cousin, to emphasize an Eastern (rather than Central) connection. I don't know if she was actually wearing that for that precise scene, but that's about the same (early) timeframe. I don't know why, but I sort of visualized the cousin as Anne Rice (decaying Gothic splendour) to Illisidi's :cherryh:

I'm rereading the book. AGAIN. Or at least, the section of the novel I think holds the relevant quote.

^Dedication.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing, Xheralt. Ilisidi married into the Ragi clan colors of red and black, and so wears them to express solidarity with Tabini's regime, but her own eastern clan has some other colors of its own.

Right now, I don't recall Illisidi ever wearing anything other then Ragi colors. If Neco's recollection is correct (I'm not sure one way or the other) I'm simply speculating on how it may be possible. Red & Gold, as evidenced at the treaty-signing with Macahgi, is all I'm certain of. I do vaguely recall thinking (years ago) Red & Green was appropriate....for something. I don't remember what, however. This is me we're talking about, I don't even remember what I had for lunch last week, and this was a passing thing years ago that I'm trying to dredge up recollection of...

I'm agreeing, Xheralt. :D I don't recall her appearing dressed in her own clan colors, but I do recall that they are not the Ragi red & black which she does often waar. I just can't remember what they are.

The reason I need to know is that I've given myself the project of making a model of my idea of Malguri in Minecraft, and I need to know what color the banners should be. :D I believe Neco and Busifer are correct, but I'm still hoping for something more definitive so I don't have to go back and re-make them if I get it wrong.

I thought the red and green were among the banners when Bren first entered Malguri's great hall, but the only one described was a red bagi-nagi on a blue field that was Tabini's personal emblem.

Hm, the red and green were on a banner someplace. :HB:

It was sunset outside. The hilltop felt the chill of the evening. But the fireplace functioned, the long table had a white cloth and the benches had folded blankets to keep the splinters from ruining clothes. There was crystal, there were candles, there was the aiji's banner, red and black, and the banner of Malguri, red and green, within the candle and firelight, and there was a respectable, even a splendid dinner in front of them.

De rien. Almost missed it as I'd started out with the notion that the crooked banner that one of the young men had climbed up and hung above Saduri's gate was Malguri's (that one turned out to also be Ragi), got caught up in re-reading the whole arrival at Saduri and thus ended up coming across the elusive scene. :-)

In Deceiver, Tano mentions that his birth-mother's "brother-of-the-same-father" had a book on porcelains that he used to enjoy looking at. Was there some significance to saying it that way, instead of just saying he liked to look at his uncle's book?
