Since we are now a week away from the Great Tracker Reading Party, I figured I'd get this thread started. Also, the early birds can amuse themselves by giving hints to those who must wait longer. :flower:

I find the hinted appearance of Pyanfar Chanur thoroughly fascinating. Will Tano figure out what the knnn are really talking about?

So. This arc starts with Bren and the Reunion kids, with Jase and his guard duo, taking farewell at Najida - the spacers going back to the station, Bren and his aishid going to Shejidan to politic the finer parts of the East-Marid treaty.

Before starting to read I though that maybe it was time to switch focus and get back to station/human issues, and that view got reinforced when Jase, on the last night at Najida, breaks some information regarding the human/Mosphei station master and his inability to handle the station-folk/Reunioner situation. However, someone is coming for a visit, and sadly it is NOT the knnn!

So does that mean that the book *doesn't* switch back to station/human issues? 'Cause she's been telegraphing that eventual shift for a long time now.

It do switch back to human/station politics,, so there's a dose of Braddock to be had, and the machinations of an inept human station master.
And - the kyo!

Also Ilisidi seems to... well, not getting younger, certainly. Sharp as always, but at the end of her strength. Makes me sad.

Maybe the kyo will develop a taste for raw fish? Because then they can start a chain of sushi restaurants called ToKyo.

Wouldn't that be, "ToKyo ToGo?"

Heh. -- I think I need to spend some time reading this weekend, to whet my appetite.

I'm likely to start reading Tracker, even though I am way, way back in Inheritor and have other SF and non-fiction on the Towering To Read Stack.

(Currently re-reading Chanur's Venture, reading Inheritor, and with a couple of other books stalled, to restart. But I'm gaining on it. My reading is a little closer to my former usual levels.)

Ever since that movie Interstellar came out, I've been associating the poem in the narration ("Rage, rage, against the dying of the light...") with Ilisidi and her efforts to get things straightened out on the mainland.

I too have been re-reading in preparation -

and, taking a bit of a left turn - WHO, nadi'in, is Tatiseigi's heir? Did anybody else notice that, in book 13, Tati accused Bren of taking 'MY BOY' (MY boy!) into danger at Najida?

Tati's not getting any younger, either.

If Ilisidi goes before Cajeiri reaches his majority, there is no way I can see for the East to accept TABINI as regent for Malguri - or is there?

Sorry - I'm still stuck on planet.

Be assured that, on Tuesday next, I will turn my attention to 'things above'.

I thought Cajeiri sort of was, since Uncle has no direct heir himself, but through his niece, Damiri.

That has been my thought also.

It may be that Damiri's daughter will ultimately be Tatiseigi's heir.

I've received my copy of Tracker, and am going through the initial salt-free reading. "Excellent creature!"

I'm suddenly very, very tempted to get the ebook version as well. Do you think Kindle Cloud Reader would store it without difficulty? I only have the PC version on Kindle, but I'm going away for 8 or 9 days and it's not available on the computers I'll be working with.

Got the kindle version at oh dark thirty this am and have been reading it in snatches since - halfway through about - NO SPOILERS HERE!

REALLY enjoying it.

Found the hard copy waiting for me when I got home this evening. I don't much like how Bren is portrayed on this one - much cuter in the past covers.

BTW, I have never, to my memory, had any issues with cloud storage, but if you want to download the ebook version you do have to specify which of your devices you want to have it downloaded TO.

Do you have a portable e-reader or tablet with the kindle reader app?

If I did, I wouldn't have asked about the cloud. :P (No, I do not. Overall, I still prefer dead tree books, but more and more lately, I've been wanting to expand into other types of books, ie ebooks and audio books.)
