It is quite possible that I have no life. But it is true that this is my absolute favoritest series ever, so...

No one who sees all you accomplish could possibly think you have no life. You have art and chickens and a spouse after all :) and a garden, and soap, and cooking and baking and friends and family - you have an incredibly full life and with all that you have a very sharp eye as to details regarding our associates the Atevi. Well done. keep it coming :)

I think the details like that must get sharper if you've read a book as many times as Neco seems to have.

Yes, well... *blushes*

It is probably kind of embarrassing, how many times I've read these books. The fact of the matter is that they are my easiest form of escapism, as they allow a complete immersion for my imagination, which on stressful days is what I need.

So say we all :bunny7:
I re read them all now as each new one comes out because I can't remember details anymore. And I read nothing but the chanur books for about ten years because every time I tried reading a new author I hated him/ her. Perversely I read cjc less now that I spend my time with you guys because you have all referred other great sf writers. It is one reason why the Babbler is so sacrosanct to me.

While Atevi may well have a keener sense of smell, I find it funny that no one has considered that humans may not smell strongly to other humans simply because we're used to it!

We go out of our way to rid ourselves of our smells. The natives of Brazilian Amazon think westerners don't smell like people. They say we smell like other weird things.

Westerners is a funny word to use in relation to Brazil-dwellers. The only good word is "people from developed countries whose majorities largely originate in the Western part of Eurasia".

I bet you German has a word for that, albeit probably not any more concise than your phrase, Eupathic Impulse sir.
If only Vetch were here to supply that word.
