Happy Thanksgiving, all! Quiet day here, but that is most appreciated right now. This Christmas might be quiet too, but for the next month or two, I'll likely be too busy to notice. Likely, I'll appreciate quiet time this Christmas also. Doing OK here, thankful for good friends and family, online friends included, though most are far away. My grandmother had a good long life, more happiness than not. I know I did my best, even though not perfect. I'm at peace with all that. I have two great cats, a roof (mine) over my head, plenty of food in the fridge and pantry, and a good bed. My home's dry and not too warm or cold. I have a chance at a fresh start. Difficult for some months to come, but better, I hope, after that. Who knows, perhaps it'll go better than I think, here and there. I have friends and family I love. Room for lots more, I'd like that a lot. No special someone, but perhaps that might change in the future. Heck, I did meet one very nice person (great hug!) and I intend to go back, say thanks, hug back, and see if maybe there could be friendship at least. If more, that'd be great, but I'm trying not to let myself get too invested in that happening. This Christmas won't be easy, but I think it'll be OK. Next year will be better. Possibly, I'll feel like inviting people over or will get an invite. At some point, I'll even be ready to volunteer some again. So... all in all, it's OK. Best Wishes, All. |

Just came back from dinner at my best friend's brother's place. Besides the usual :t4 and dressing, I brought bourbon sweet potatoes, someone else brought bourbon balls, there was a bourbon pecan pie, and some little chocolate cups with red wine ganache. I'm happy! :atwink |

I'm sitting home alone all bundled up in front of the computer eating stew after having turned down 4 invites to turkey because I'm just too contagious to be out in public. Strange as it sounds, I'm ok with that. This stupid cold will go away, but my friends will still be there! :) :t4 :doze :t4 :t4 Happy Turkeyday y'all! |

Weeble, I'm so sorry you're sick. But you were wise to stay home and quiet. We had planned to go out to a restaurant, maybe Cracker Barrel, and then to a movie. Because weather can be quite unpredictable, we also bought the fixings -- even found the white/dark meat turkey roll we like so much. Came Thursday morning and we decided to scrap that plan and just stay home. Had a wonderful meal: turkey roll (great because it's just the two of us and there was no carving, no bones, no waste), stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, buttered corn. The only thing missing was pumpkin pie, and we had key lime pie instead (note: the Comstock canned key lime pie filling isn't very good). After eating, we settled in for a Nicole Kidman festival -- The Others, Invasion, The Stepford Wives. Later I watched 1408. A good time was had by both of us. May all the rest of the :salad: s have an equally enjoyable, safe holiday, especially those on the road. :cheers2 |

It was just Proge and me here in southern N.E. He did his now traditional turkey on the grill, plus we roasted a lot of squash (to freeze) and the potatoes for mashing. I also made an apple country tart and a pecan pie. The idea is that as long as we are cooking, make enough to freeze and have on hand for later. The massive rain of the day before stopped and turned into a sunny warmish day. Nice for outdoor cooking and bird watching. Hope all enjoyed a Thanksgiving they wanted. |

We had to have three tables for all those eating Thanksgiving at our house this year. Over nine pies and the hugest turkey I'd ever seen. There were no arguments between the adults (unusual for certain factions of Spencean Horde). But with the most prickly of factions not here, the rest of us enjoyed each other's company. It was the only grandson present and the youngest of another family that had issues. He's nearly 3 and clumsy and she 18 months and not in the best of moods. He kept knocking her over so we heard "Isabel! you're alright!" and "PATRICK, be nice!" All in all it was a very pleasant holiday. Most are now off to the Superbowl of shoppers: Black Friday. |

Had tons of delicious food. And later in the day I talked Brother into taking his wife and me downtown to the Kansas City Plaza Lights Ceremony. The first time I've ever actually been there on the day the light switch is flipped. But we had beautiful weather for it- almost 65* at 700 pm. We parked about a mile away and had a quiet, easy walk down to the Plaza. p.s. you can google for info on the lighting ceremony. It's a big thing here in KC. |

Eri-guy made the traditional Thanksgiving dinner for the two of us. I am thankful he enjoys cooking! I am fortunate to have my 88 year old father still healthy, a job and coworkers I love, and friendships I cherish, including all of you! |

We had a small dinner about noon at a local establishment. Then in the late afternoon we went for a hike. I'd never been to this particular park before but it was surprisingly difficult terrain. Deep in the park we'd taken a path marked by a set of spray painted arrows (not knowing any better) and it turned out to be something probably intended for insane mountain bikers. At least it wasn't dark! Still, a nice holiday. |

Owing to continued lack of wifi at home, this report is a smidge late -- I had dinner at my Mom's (she and my sister mostly alternate hosting duties for holidays, though occassionally we run out to one of my mom's sister's place about 45 minutes west on the expressway). We were joined by the folks right in town, almost entirely my (step-) dad's side of the family. Three aunts, a cousin down from Green Bay with his wife and their three, another (unmarried) cousin. My sister, her husband and their trio of girls. Hope everyone else had a happy "turkey day!". Oh, and GO PACK! 11-0!!!! :fluffy: :atwink |

I literally slept all day, then like Lazarus, arose from the dead to arrive at my in-laws just as the turkey was being carved. Great timing, yes? |
