Yeah, yeah, I know, took me long enough! Well, it didn't take me all that long when I actually had the book in my hands.

Thing is, it didn't really leave me anticipating the next one all that much. I was disappointed. Not in the book, really, but that it didn't leave me with a hunger for more.

*sigh*

But, I'm done reading it! So now I'm not afraid to come in here anymore.

What, no curiosity what the machines are that were sent down by the Station, and who authorized/planned their placement? No wondering about what will happen when the kyo arrive on their visit? No suspense over what the dreaded Barb is subjecting Bren's servents to back at the estate? I so wish I could have finished the book and immediately started into the next! Guess I'm just a Brenaholic.

There were so many loose ends between Bren and Jago; then there is the relationship that is maturing between the dowager and Bren; ... and the politics going on behind the scenes that brought them to this situation...; and if Algini is the guildmaster, where will that lead... more insights into the Assassins Guild?

I agree that I was a little disappointed with Deliverer. I thought it was too short, and left too many threads going under other doors, but I will allow nand :cherryh: to answer questions in her sweet time, as it will be SWEET!

I also felt the ending rushed (against an editor's deadline?). There was next to no explication of what had just happened. She should start the next set of books with a flashback maybe from the boy's point of view. Or a parallel story of whats happening on the space station.

Maybe that's what it was, it ended too suddenly.

I DID enjoy seeing Cajeiri's ingenuity though. Do you think he would have survived this ordeal if he hadn't learned the things he learned on ship that helped him escape Lord Caiti's "prison"?

I LOVE the name Caiti, by the way. Only, for a girl. Too bad it's a villain. And a stupid one at that. ((I wonder if Husband would let me name our next daughter Ilisidi))

Ok, I know "mani" means "Gran" and "mani-ma" is "Gran (with respect) but just think how wonderful it would be to use "mani-pa". :lol:

But then my nieces and nephews refer to my mom and dad as Grammy and Grampy (often Grumpy) and of course, I'm Auntie M.

I have been thinking that Mani may be related to the root in Man'chi.

Quote:

affix- man'chi flow indicator, from whom the man'chi flows -(i)n(-)
affix- man'chi flow indicator, toward whom the man'chi flows -ma

Aiji - ma = the leader to whom my man'chi flows

aishini vs aishi

[aish][in] vs [aish][Ø]

[Associate][from whom my man'chi flows][plural]

vs

[Associate][within my group. This is not marked as it is the normal situation.][plural]

man'chi = [ma][-(i)n(-)][chi] = [affix- man'chi flow indicator, toward whom the man'chi flows][man'chi flow indicator, from whom the man'chi flows][ballance]

machimi = [ma][chi][mi] = [man'chi flow indicator, to whom the man'chi flows][ballance][play or display]

Hmm It could mean something like Person to whom my man'chi flows But I think it is really a way to say old and respected woman or grannie.

I thought he [Caijeri] referred to her [Ilisidi], from time to time, as "Mani-ma".
One would be so proud to be Mani to Erin and Marcus [and that other lovely child whose name I do not recall but who is among the third generation of the Horde and who, as an adopted child as i recall, is near and dear to my heart since all the children I have in the RW are adopted].
One does not aspire to Mani-ma, because one believes there is an element of fealty in that -ma. No? One wishes to dote with adoration upon the third generation, in a virtual sort of way since physical presence seems sadly unlikely, not to command, with a cane, fealty.
But, one as always sits at the feet of Spence-ji as he explicates the language subtleties.
