Then read this email from my friend Wendy, an astronomy prof at Wellesley College in Boston (and also a friend of Carolyn & Jane's):

The asteroid was finally in the right part of the sky for us to try to observe it.  Our students tried.  They put together a finding chart for where it should be, and got the right part of the sky, but it was too faint for this size telescope with this bright of a sky.  Sorry--but we tried!

Aww, rats! Though considering modern life, I think we need to be at least 30 miles out from the city to get a good chance at seeing it, I reckon.
