Found this listed at amazon.com: Northwest of Earth: The Complete Northwest Smith (Paperback) by C. L. Moore (Author), C. J. Cherryh (Author) # Paperback: 220 pages # Publisher: Paizo Publishing, LLC. (January 15, 2008) # Language: English # ISBN-10: 1601250819 # ISBN-13: 978-1601250810 Does anybody know what Cherryh's contribution/involvement with this project is? Also, I remember way back Cherryh mentioning on her blog some interviews she did with IIRC a textbook team. Did anything come of this? bayside |

Northwest of Earth: I don't know anything about it; will need to ask -- which will be Monday, at the very earliest. Textbook project thread, including link to a snippet of the interview. Herself was given a copy of the full interview, including (one presumes) the skating spliced in. I was really hot to see how it turned out, but She put it away somewhere & never wants to see it, as She can't bear to watch Herself. I doubt that after the Big Move, Herself even knows where it is. Carolyn is obviously nervous during the interview. |

BTW, Miss Cherry (without the "h" ) was named Oklahoma City's "Teacher of the Year" -- then went on to be named "Teacher of the Year" Runner-Up for the entire STATE of Oklahoma. She was YOUNG when all this happened: ~30. A surprising number of her former students remain in contact with Herself. The stories from her teaching years are hysterical, & are best told by She. Should anyone be hanging out with Herself sometime be sure to ask her to tell some of them. I especially recommend the stories about when She took a student group to Europe. Remember She would have been in her 20's at the time, & the students were age 16-17. Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse! One especially notable (lengthy) tale centers around a giant teddy bear that one student purchased as soon as their group arrived in Europe. There were two problems with this: 1) The teddy bear then had to be lugged everywhere with them for the entire trip, including being stuffed into buses, taxis, & the plane home. 2) The student used up all of her money on the bear, & then had almost nothing left for little neccesseties such as food. IIRC, this student remains in contact with Herself. |
