I should have mentioned The Glorious Tank is especially amazing right now: the Hammerhead coral is massive -- it has really grown quickly, recently. Very impressive!

The 2 corals that were fighting: Herself separated them so they can no longer "reach out and touch" each other.

Herself scaped off the algae obscuring the inside of the tank, utilizing a razer blade. The glass is now sparkling clear, all the better to admire the inhabitants.

The fish all look great. Though, my little buddy, the yellow Watchman, did not come out from under the rocks & see me when I was visiting. :bawl

The finger is better today. A little sore, but no signs of infection.

My spouse spent a night or two in the hospital on an antibiotic IV once after one of our cats bit him in the soft part between his thumb and forefinger. His hand had gotten swollen and red and the doctor he called on the phone after 24 hours told him to go right in. Apparently if you leave these things too long you can lose the appendage.

Someday could we see a photo of the Glorious Tank. I am so envious. Decades ago, when I was in high school, I attempted a salt water tank. Unfortunately, the only fluid available was out of the bay, with predictable disgusting results. I drained it out the window. The wonder is that the shrub below survived. :ot2

I can't but help to marvel how lucky I was (not knowing better) to have actually picked Ysabel up during ShejiCon -- and gotten away unscathed!

Xh-ji,

Ysabel was probably in such shock that someone had *dared* to pick her up, that she quite forgot herself for a few moments & didn't bite. :Acat:

Pence, look for the slideshow that Sk8tr-daja created following ShejiCon I, the event she felicitously facilitated. The link is posted in the Meetpoint Station section, ShejiCon thread. The Glorious Tank is there, among other things (like the gorgeous sunset on Lake Cor d'Aliene). Have some :t while you search, I may be too lazy to hunt the link down myself, but I always have a pot ready...

X-ji, when we were in their house during shejicon, I remember Her Janeness warning you about the cat as you made a bee-line for it in their kitchen. You probably didn't hear her. But Nand'Sidjei told me that she was surprised that you didn't get slashed.

I've handled a great number of cats, including having once or twice to BATHE cats, I know what to watch for. A good magician doesn't give away his secrets, but here goes:

I definitely got "DO NOT WANT!" vibe :irked: from her the instant I picked her up, so I never brought her in close to my body, and set her back down immediately, adjusting my hand position on her way down just enough to reduce her ability to claw me, if she tried. I'd expected an attempt, but like Sk8tr sez, I think Ys was still too surprised to try it, and she was back on the ground before she really got an opportunity.

And yes, I do recall the warning about Ysabel, but I didn't know THAT cat was Ysabel until it was over... :kitty:

Merry Christmas to Herself nand'Sidjei, Her Janeness, and the feline personages! (Also the inhabitants of the Glorious Tank, who alas will likely not appreciate such wishes.)

Looking forward to a wonderful new year. Yikes, it's going to be 2008 already!

Today was SpoCon's "Winter Literary Event", featuring 6 local authors. It was a first-ever, free gathering of ~30 people featuring readings & panel discussions. Very low-key, very fun.

Nadiiin, Herself treated us to a manuscript reading of FOREIGNER #10, and announced the book will be titled Conspirator. And it WAS a treat, because Herself is such an excellent reader. Although the book does not start with a :bath , it is very funny: Herself had everyone howling. Bren and Cajeiri's viewpoints kick off the story. All sorts of madness and mayhem are guaranteed!
