*winces, imagining atevi meeting kif...and then the shsto (never did catch the correct spelling on that one)...and then the methane breathers*
That might be a very, very bad idea. Though the effect it would have on poor Bren would be hysterically funny...

!
I hadn't thought about the shsto when I mentioned that.

I suspect if Ilisidi or Tabini (or fill in blank) met all that fluttery, limb-waving, fretfullness, the Shsto would not have a bright and shiny future. Unless they had particularly good :t to offer for trade.

And Bren would be --> :Arrgh:
Enough so that the Chanur clan might find yet another human stowaway on their ship. Though this time, at least, he'd be dressed ...

Nadiin, one might check out the Chanur roleplay board that na Spence has in his signature, for a possible vision of what might occur should atevi meet the Compact citizens. Let us just say that there would be much to amuse the reader whilst heavily traumatizing the parties involved! (Poor, poor stsho. Very annoyed hani. And bewildered, highly armed :shoot: .... :D)

Asicho -
I might have to go and peek that way again. I'd seen it once before, and read quite a bit of it. But somehow, it slipped my mind. Time to go back and see what mayhem has played out in my absence.

Hello my associates!

Since we brought up the cross-universe potentials, I just wanted to see if I understood correctly on the connection that I thought is there: Is Tully's adventure in the Compact space the surprise that Sol received while exploring on the other side away from Union? The seem to have the same jump behavior compared to the univese of the Ateva (the humans in both Compact and Merchanter space require trank).

Just checking my facts while enjoying all the other discussion :)

It's a definite 'Yes'. :atwink

There are two references in Cyteen, one of which explicitly names the Compact. We've talked about this before at the old board iirc. I'll see if I can track doen the link.

Another message from :cherryh: Herself to Shejidan Associates:

At lunch today with Hakkikt & I, Carolyn specifically requested help from Shejidan. She needs a list of all staff member's names at:
1) Bren's apartment in the Bu'javid.
2) Bren's estate.

If any staff member "is really obviously dead", Herself needs to know this also!

She also revealed that Bren is "running out of places to live."

Info can be emailed to me via this board, or directly to Carolyn.

If you email Carolyn directly be certain to put the code word "COMLINK" in your email header, or a subject line that is clearly NOT spam (for example: "Bren's staff members".) If Herself does not recognize the sender of an email, or the subject is not clearly spam, emails are discarded without opening. This will ensure your email gets through. :baji

Oooh!  A QUEST!  And one gets to re-read all the Bren books!  I shall commence....

Our Hero!
Also -- giggled over the :cherryh: needing help with this.

Though I did find it hardly surprising, considering that the :cherryh: is bouncing between several completely different series.

And even being the rabid fan of the Bren books that I am, I've often wished there was a section on our website here for a list of all the characters that have been in the series. Something to keep me from looking so silly when I say Bindandi instead of Bindanda

If anyone was ever to compose such a list sometime in the far-flung future, with a brief description of who each character was -- similar to what's at the end of the original book -- I might like to gift that person with a personalized, hand-drawn, bookmark of their favorite atevi...

Excellent idea, Resa-ji! :t

May one propose such a list be started. One is also wondering if the best place for it might be the scholarly forum here -- & maybe even pin the thread so we can locate it whenever needed?

Also -- Carolyn has started such a list, ~ 2 books ago. It's hand-written. Please let me see if I can borrow that book from her to add to what we do here (or jump-start it).
