Interesting. Thanks Cho-ji. I have found the NG site to be a useful place to get particular questions answered, good source of info. But has a busy feel, even if, as you indicate, that is deceiving.

Interesting. Thanks Cho for the 'behind the scenes' look at the NG site.

I have to admit, Neil's blog is one I visit at least twice weekly ... he's such an interesting guy. And I don't begrudge the fact he's here in Oz now and not coming to Canberra - as he said on the blog, he was here in Canberra a few years ago (and I got to chat to him at a Gaslight signing then, and I got away with using my children as child slave labour to get around the 3 books per person signing limit, and the girls and I were totally blown away by the impromptu reading of Anansi Boys he decided to do on the spot, and he seemed to have a really good time - he posted on the blog about how it seemed to be one of those small signings from the old days where he got to chat with everyone who wanted to chat and so forth ... ) so I'm not jealous of my Tasmanian friends and relatives, it's clearly their turn.

But I've never felt the need to hang around his fans' messageboard - his own site is enough for me.

Still, on reflection, and after reading everyone's posts, it's probably just as well that we do not attempt to imitate that very busy and public place, and remain our cozy selves.

- cho

Busy and public suggest a lack of coziness, ne? I'd rather have a small place with less chances of attacks from more of Hacker-Dude's ilk, than have a big bustling place that's an advertisement to Hacker-Dude and cronies "Come :shoot: me!"

:ot2

One popped into NG's site a day or so ago to read his Sherlock Holmes pastiche A Study In Emerald--Sherlock Holmes meets Cthulhu in a world where everything has gone topsy-turvy, with the unlikeliest chaps on the side of the "angels" (and that term is very loosely used). Whoa! Must read Lovecraft soon--that little taste has got me salivating.

Just so no one worries: :cherryh: 's blog hasn't been updated because Herself and Janeness have been very, very busy. (For that matter, so have I; that's why I haven't been online as much.)

I am relieved to hear it, nand' Sk8er. I was fearing it was something I had said...

Busy is good if one is about quests of one's own choosing and has not been impressed into an odious service.

Peace,
Suzdal

Sherlock Holmes and Cthulhu sounds like a perfect combination to me, I'm just surprised nobody thought to do it before

Busy is good. Though one does hope that all is well over there. For all three of you.

Wishing you all much safe :t

One has to say that after carefull reading this thread one agrees with majority. Because one has found this haven after finding :cherryh: site and reading it.

Now the only problem is that one's boyfriend plans to file Intent on oneself because of the time one is spending here :atwink

One apologizes for all mistakes but one isn't english or american so the language isn't native for one.

Quicksilver-ji, We are a community of associates. One's weaknesses are excused by the felicity of your presence with us.

Please inform your boyfriend that interfering with your enjoyment IS grounds for calling out the Guild. One would hate to file intent.

The time spent gets shorter once you've been able to read through most of the threads and are in "maintenance" mode where you just need to keep up with the current posts... less than one hour a day. That's a small price to pay for the associations one forges at this site.

Once again, welcome :salad:

Welcome in Quicksilver nadi:
Ready nadi is quite correct: no need to apologize for mistakes/English, lots of folks here are non-american/english speakers.

As Herself :cherryh: says: "speaking with an accent is slightly sexy".

Quicksilver, this assassin would definitely assist you, both, in the filing and in the fulfilling of intent against your BF, should he impede you in attaining your daily :cherryh: fix.
