Regarding Taigi and Moni: Have we really any solid clues that they were only firmly escorted out? I'll have to go back and re-read (oh! what a terrible task to contemplate!!) but I was left with the feeling that (a) we didn't know why they were really there and (B) we didn't know what the Guild had done with them. Didn't Bren mention to Ilisidi something to the effect that he would only ask great consideration being given before extreme measures were taken? I took that to mean, he hoped they wouldn't be executed on the spot! That's a thread one hopes is continued/resolved in Conspirator!

My recollection is that Bren waited safely in the room with Ilisidi while security handled them. There were thumping and bumping sounds from the other room, along with muffled exclamations. Sounds a bit more physical than "escorting," but less than termination. I'm sure the Guild would want to thoroughly question them before anything else happened. Perhaps they might discover a lead to the opposition if these two were covert operatives? :hmmm:

2/28/08. Friday. 112139. The book is finished! It didn't end where I thought it would, but that's all right: what would have been there will be in the next book, which I'm starting very soon now. Still no main computer, so I can't print it out---well, I could, but the last time I tried to navigate the tangle in the office to plug in my computer directly to the printer, I leaned, tipped over the office chair, hit the edge of the desk and still have a fist-sized bruise on my arm, so I'll wait to print until Monday or so when we get the big computer back. My back is still taped up and I am not risking going on the ice.

2/29/08. Saturday. 112832. Just had an emergency call from Shejidan---the website, not the capital. Seems the message board crashed, and they're working hard trying to find the problem. I'm asked to relay that they will be back online soon, but in the meantime, don't panic. The Assassins' Guild has been called, and they hope to have a solution soon. . .

Notice two things: 1, the book is done! and 2, our little board crash is now public.

Now we only wait for it being published!!!
*drools*

But - I also noticed the different word count... Herself says it's 'finished' at 112,139 words, but then next post says 112,832 words?

I phoned Herself at 8:00 am this morning, requesting that She post that Shejidan was down and the Assassin's Guild had been mobilized. It was the only way to notify people as the site was still locked down tight, and I figured people would eventually wander over there. :cherryh: had the post up within 15 minutes. :rose2:

In a word: editing.

Ah, yes, "editing." Once had a sports editor who refused to run a 60-inch story. Too long. So, he took it in hand, trimmed and cut and rewrote -- and we printed 70 inches.

Editing - I understand that, but normally I'd say that when something is 'finished' it's done, including the editing :atwink

Very lovely and cool of her to help us with putting emergency Shejidan messages on her blog! And shows that we have many channels of communication. :flower:
