Someone at the yahoo group posted an amazon page for a new book by Cherryh called ALLIANCE SPACE (DAW, March 08).

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0756404940

Looks to me like another Daw omnibus, although what, I cannot guess. As far as I can tell the only (DAW) book remaining to be included in these omnibuses is MERCHANTER'S LUCK, the rest having been originally published by other companies.

Hey bayside! I already posted requesting information about this book here
but no one seemed to want to post. Your guess is as good as mine. And I would think it's another omnibus edition, too.

The price indicates a paperback??? Not new work in that case. However, one site says "a novel by C J Cherryh". Confusing eh?

This is from Herself's site:

Some of you have also asked about THE HANAN REBELLION, which is being listed as upcoming---DAW and I are still discussing that title: it was an honest mistake---they thought it would work, since I'd listed that period in my future history as relevant to the books in question. What they didn't know was that I'd never written about the rebellion, and the books in question aren't relevant to the rebellion, just to the era, so I asked them to find another title.

Maybe it's "Alliance Space"??

I don't think so Spider-ji. As I recall that book came out titled 'At The Edge Of Space' and contained Brothers of Earth and Hunter of Worlds.

Maybe it's a paperback omnibus of Heavy Time and Hellburner. Or Merchanter's Luck and Rimrunners. Or Finity's End and Tripoint. I have no idea, as it happens.

I don't think so Tac-ji. As I recall that book came out titled Devil to the Belt.

Yes it did, but it was from Warner/Aspect, not DAW, and it was a trade paperback size, not a mass market paperback There is a copy on the bookcase behind me as I type this.

Hmm - 40-odd years before the formation of Alliance and in Sol system. Odd title if that's the case.

My guess would be Luck/Rimrunners or Tripoint/Finity's End

"Union Space" would be a good one though - Angel With a Sword and Serpent's Reach?

I keep forgetting that Angel With The Sword is a Union-side book. I think Serpent's Reach is unlikely for the reason that it has already been collected together with Cuckoo's Egg in the volume titled The Deep Beyond.

I just off the phone with Carolyn. My questions about Alliance Space were the first thing She had heard about it. I even had to go online & tell Herself who was publishing it (DAW) & the date (4 March 2008).

Herself's :cherryh: comments included:

"I have noooo idea" about the contents of Alliance Space...but it will definately be a re-release of previously published books. Re-releases without Herself's knowledge &/or input are allowed per the original book contracts.

Cyteen 2 is "coming along but it's not there yet".

So Sk8-er -- Thanks for the recommendation! -- what's your connection to these stories? Are they old favorites? Or a recent discovery?

As will I.

I like these omnibus editions - it means I can have them as reference copies in the limited bookshelf space in the study, while the paperback and hardcover original copies can lie safely in the main stacks elsewhere in the house. Which reminds me - I really do need to buy another reading copy of Downbelow Station.
