I feel that it would be very PC for the 2nd child to be a girl and CJ often does not give the expected, so I am going to say it will be a boy.

I agree with that conclusion. So my money's on a boy.

I'm not sure how it would be politically correct. One might also view it as a balance of familial genders. I do agree that 's plotting always exceeds expectations, so maybe she'd give us a girl sibling or twins because we expect not-a-girl-sibling.

Canot offend one gender by saying it has to be the other. Have to ballance our views . . . etc.

I mean, humans occasionally have children who get much grief because they were born with ambiguous sexuality. Surely it must sometimes happen to our non-human s, too.

...depends on what decides: a second boy (for the atageini) would be a direct threat to Cajeiri in all senses, a girl would be to a lesser extent.

All 's female characters are, if not an outright threat, at the very least a force to be reckoned with. My money is on a girl ...

While this thread has been lampshading it pretty heavily, the thread's original title could be construed as a spoiler, by virtue of being a simple declarative, and unavoidable because it was the title thread. There was a throwaway line by 'Sidi-ma (iirc) that leads the various contributers of this thread to treat it as an underlying and assumed fact. Sorry if I've knocked the lampshade askew, but it wasn't on all that securely in the first place.

I hadn't read Damiri was pregnant, but I don't mind I hope it's a girl, it'll be refreshing for Cajeiri to have a squalling red infant girl messing with his plans

It's a girl! He has followers, with manchi, already, and she's just a girl, and such a baby, great-grandmother :P

...Hah! Had another thought: a sibling of either gender--that makes an even better aiji than Cajeiri. This way he can go back to the starship & his human associates like he wanted & his sibling can be the landed aiji (with all the headaches & constraints)...
